I once heard a someone tell a group of children that God has a phone number. He proceeded to tell them to look up Jeremiah 33:3. This is where God says, “Call to me and I will answer you…”
I find it interesting that when we call people we listen for an answer, but when we call God, we just talk.
Listening for God is a part of seeking Him. And it’s almost a lost art.
When we pray, it isn’t really like texting God. But almost. We send our message and expect something to happen. If God should ever answer us with the same attitude we use toward Him, it would freak us all out.
I’ve heard a lot of people pray over the years. Some pray with a performance voice and some use a humble tone. Some pray prayers others have written and some pray from their own heart. If I were God, I know what I’d prefer.
I like how God says He will answer us, according to Jeremiah 33:3. “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
When I read that, I feel like a young student with her chin in her hands, staring up in awe at The Great Teacher. Almost anything He says to me will be great and unsearchable, and certainly something I don’t know.
But He’s spoken to me wisdom that I can use most of the time.
I think I’ll keep here listening for the moment.

And that is why I hang out here. How I long to be near you though and be your “real” friend. I wish we could drink some coffee and share what God is doing and not over the computer. I think you have incredible insight and wisdom and the Lord is speaking truth to you. Thank you for this.

Sister, you are just on fire! YES, YES, Yes and AMEN! How often do we call people to HEAR them talk?? Almost never. Dial 1-800 God and just listen. Let’s see if we can just listen and say nothing – as in “Be still and know that I am God.”

You got to sit still to listen to Him. He does the same for you.
