Sunday Night our small group studied this popular Psalm 139. This study was so intimate, deep, directional, and very thought provoking. One of these questions and answers I am going to share with you. With the permission of it’s author Kim Pompa.
The Psalmist declares that God’s knowledge of him is wonderful (v.6). Yet why do you think he feels an urge to flee from God’s presence (vv. 7-12)?
Kim’s answer:
“ I believe it is because we fear the idea that ANYONE could know us so intimately and absolutely. It is frightening to come face to face with ourselves because ultimately we are the image, the lesser version of God Himself. We also cannot bear the comparison of our flaws against His perfection and what we strive to attain.
Usually when we look into a mirror it’s to alter or change something, to hide behind. Rarely do we look into the mirror to see the truth, to face things the way they are.”
As she read her answer, we told her to re read it several times.
How true is what she said.
How Powerful is it that God Knows ABSOLUTES about us!
He knows our every detail and LOVES US– us the same.
BUT WE WANT TO RUN AWAY.
WOW… how breathtaking this passage is, in it He created us, He thinks of us, He tests us, and He loves us unconditionally.
Kim is just an example of many folks I get to do life with right now. Honestly, she should be a blogger, she’s a prolific writer, a faithful mom, and an awesome woman of God, Thank you Kim,
Love you today, tomorrow, and always…

I think I’ll go and meditate on this Psalm and come back later and comment. You’re absolutely right. Kim has a special insight into God’s own heart. This is something He longs to give all of us who pursue Him diligently. Wish I would have been there.
