Pizza
May 14, 2008 by Heidi
As I was washing dishes, my son Elijah (who turned 15 today) walks in.
(here’s the conversation)
Elij: Mom I’m hungry
Me: There’s a frozen pizza in the freezer
Elij: Mom that will take forever!!!
Me: I guess it’s going to be forever until you eat (smirk and a smile)!!
Elij: Come on mom!!! Do I have to cook it?
Me: Yep
Elij: (reluctantly pulling it out of the freezer) How do I cook it?
Me: READ THE DIRECTIONS (getting a little annoyed)
Elij: Directions are hard!!!
Although, he managed to cook and devour his frozen pizza all by himself, I was thinking to myself, how many times have I said that in life situations?
“directions are hard” Especially when it comes to knowing God’ s will in my life!!!
Do you take directions hard in your life?

Heidi, I have one of those too except he’s 17, 6′3″, 246 pounds and plays football. He would have cooked two whole pizzas or twisted his sisters arm into doing it for him. I enjoyed finding your blog. Thanks for linking me.
Sometimes yes! Especially when my flesh is screaming no or the enemy is telling me that it is too hard and God couldn’t possibly want me to be over-whelmed. I think God has really worked on me and humbled me in that respect and I am thankful that He continues to work on me even when I do make it harder for His Will to manifest in my life when I don’t follow directions. Thanks for sharing. The pizza looks yummy! LOL
heck yes I fight them all the time
Hi Lady,
Happy Birthday to you and yours!!
I can relate to the always hungry 15 year old. I have one that wanders the halls of my house.
Directions are hard to follow sometimes. I mean look at the box that pizza came in….to microwave it isn’t just one time but a time frame depending on how many watts your microwave is. How many of us know the wattage of our microwaves. There are so many variables to everything. I have always felt that learning the rules is easy it is learning the exceptions that takes time.
I personally feel relief when I get God’s direction at least then I am not flying solo.
uh.
yah.
then i get emails from friends who stomp their foot and tap there hands on their hip til they get good results from their instructions.
then i submit
i wouldn’t change one thing about those emails either!!!
I loved each one of them and saved them to my archives.
you stretched me. you stretched my brain. oowwwieeee.
it was awesome!
usually i do, yeah.
but i think i like the fact that i wrestle with them a bit. not in a rebellious/disobedient way, but in the sense of wanting to understand and fully grasp it for myself.
Yea, just call me Gideon.
“Well Lord, if you REALLY want me to do that I will lay my laundry outside and if it’s wet in the morning and the ground is dry, I’ll know it’s you!”
“OK Lord, just to be sure……….”
LOL!!!!
I know reading directions is the best way but I usually try to make it up…(will I EVER learn?!)
I’m horrible with directions, especially when it doesn’t fit into my “I like to be in control and already have a plan” plan!
Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog! I just appreciate knowing I have one reader who likes my stuff!
It seems to take me a while to get anything that God has told me. I remember hearing directions or comments in sermons, but three years later I get it or I finally do it. I spend alot of time wondering how God is so patient with me. Good post, I like to see the one that make me question my heart to God. Love Tanya
ummmm yeah
I’ve always been a bit of a hard-head. I think it’s safe to say that I take direction better now than ever, but there is always room for improvement.
